Clean Hair Don’t Care – Two “Clean” Shampoo Lines I Swear By

When I wash my hair, I want to get it clean–don’t we all! The last thing I want is to further pollute it with the plastics, parabens, sulfates, and other chemicals that are so common in hair products today. The test I apply to select hair care products is simple: If it contains something I wouldn’t want in my body, then I’m not putting it in my hair!  Sticking to that standard allows me to use only the safest, cleanest hair products on the market.

I don’t want to waste your time highlighting all the chemicals that I know you know are in most off-the-shelf shampoo lines.  Rather, I want to tell you that I’ve been on a quest for the past five years to find shampoos that are both clean and also highly effective–it does no good if the product is chemical-free (or close to) but doesn’t get your hair clean!  It’s taken much trial and error and some genuine hair disasters but, after all that, I’m happy to report that the following two shampoos are, in my considered opinion, the best of the best on both measures:

  1. John Masters Organics https://johnmasters.com/

John Masters’ entire line is to die for.  But, if you have to start with a single product, select his Zinc & Sage Shampoo with Conditioner.  It’s positively divine.  It smells clean and crisp and utterly unique; the natural zinc and sage are also great scalp soothers, particularly in the winter months.  And the texture of the product is skintillating–see what I did there 🙂  You can buy it online or at select Whole Foods stores.

2. Intelligent Nutrients https://www.intelligentnutrients.com

If you’re looking for purity of ingredients, this is the product for you–it’s the compositionally purest hair care product I’ve found so far in my clean hair quest.  Intelligent Nutrients was founded by Horst Rechelbarcker. Horst founded Aveda and then turned around and left that company to found Intelligent Nutrients.  His reason?  He wanted to start a hair care brand that was oriented around pure ingredients and consumer health.  And he succeeded: Intelligent Nutrients was the very first company to receive USDA organic certification for a hair care line.  I’d start with their Harmonic Shampoo (and matching conditioner). You can generally only find these products online but they are worth the extra effort; pick up a trial size of the Harmonic Shampoo for $8.50 (http://www.intelligentnutrients.com/harmonic-shampoo-grouped) and get washing!

And that’s it folks!  I hope you enjoyed this post; I want to hear from you if there are any other clean shampoos that you enjoy.   If there are others I may have missed, I would love to learn more and,  if you think it’s worth a write up, we can feature it here!

Wishing you health and happiness,

~Rita

I was not paid to review these products and I pay for each of these products myself. My post is simply inspired by the passion I have for these two great brands and their products, which are promoting a healthy, wealthy, and wise way of life!
