Healthy Momma Baby Registry

I have the nesting instinct but – funny enough – mine came the more in love I became (and continue to become) with my baby. As I watch him grow everyday, my heart swells with love and I all I want to do is protect him. While baby products are heavily regulated in the United States, and have some of the highest safest standards, these same rules do not always apply to how healthy these products are for our babies. So with that being said, here are some companies who take both babies safety and health seriously.

Crib – A cult favorite is the Babyletto convertible crib.   It is made with sustainable New Zealand Pine Wood, is CARB II compliant MDF, GREENGUARD Gold Certified  (meaning its screened for 360 VOCs and over 10,000 chemicals, and is lead and phthalate safe, non-toxic finish).

Bouncer – This is a must have for any newborn, and your baby will probably spend more time in this than anything else. Check out the bloom Coco Go 3-in-1 Organic bouncer here.

High Chair – Without question, I love the Stokke Tripp Trap high chair. I just ordered one myself and can’t wait to use it. It is made from solid beech wood and has all non-toxic finishes (a/k/a water-based non-toxic paints). The best part is that you can pull it right up to your dining room table so your child can eat with the whole family! It is free of bisphenol and phthalates and certified by JPMAN.

PlayMat – While your newborn does not need many toys at first, you will need a play mat. I love the Wee Gallery Organic Sunshine Playmat. The black and white contrast colors ensure that your newborn can enjoy tummy time and learn about their brand new world in the comfort of a soft and clean mat.

Play Gym – I am in love with everything Finn+Emma – and Pottery Barn Kids carries them too, so it would be easy to put on a registry. Check this one out here.

Clothes – For this one, I try to remember one rule: If I put it this item on my baby’s skin, would I be okay with anything it is sprayed with going into his body? So many baby items are sprayed with flame retardants, and made with cotton that is doused with pesticides. So I try to use clothes that are made with cotton that is GOTS certified. For this one, Monica+Andy make some of my favorites.

Bottles – So important, even if you are nursing, is the bottle. I know there are lots of companies that make “safe” plastic bottles, but for this one, I insist on glass (I am so against plastic that I only pumped for a couple months before I stopped and strictly nursed my baby because I didn’t like the plastic tubing attached to the pump!). My favorite bottles by far are the ones made by LifeFactory. They are also the only ones my baby loved (which says a lot about him, he hates anything that comes from plastic – he is SOOOO my baby!). Pottery Barn Kids also has a great started kit you can find here.

Wipes – My sister had a baby right before I did and (thankfully!) tested all the wipes on the market for me! We both love the WaterWipes as they are made from 99.99% water and a drop of fruit extract. They are also the only ones that do not give our babies a rash.

Diapers – Right now, I am using Pampers Pure. I love them, they don’t leak, and – aside from using cloth diapers – they are as pure as you can get in this market right now. Plus, they don’t leak and keep baby very well protected.

If you can’t find all these items in one store, you can use https://www.babylist.com/ to create your baby registry and add anything from any store!

Please note that I recommend these products because I truly believe in their value, but please do your own research when it comes to buying or registering for your baby. Remember, YOU are the mom, and you have to do what is right for YOUR baby.
